Indoor Radon Grant II-IV
The Citizens for Clean Air in Pueblo - Education, Research, Action organization has received four State Indoor Radon Grants from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. This grant allows for CCAP-ERA to give out radon test kits to residents in Pueblo, Fremont, Custer Counties. Test kits are free to those who are testing their homes for radon for the first time.
The test kits given out are Short-Term test kits that require a minimum three (3) day to maximum (7) day testing period. This test must be used under Closed House Conditions, meaning all the doors and windows MUSTbe closed twelve (12) hours before initiating the test and for the whole entire duration of the test. Normal entry and exit is permitted; just remember to close the door behind you.
The test should be placed in the lowest livible space of the home, preferably in a bedroom or a living room. DO NOT place the test in the crawl-space, bathroom, laundry room, kitchen, garage, attic or utility room. Any exchange of indoor air with outdoor air is not acceptable during the entire testing period. It is recommended that testing should take place during the winter months of the year (October - March) in Colorado.
